CRADLE Support Group

Filed under: — The Editor @ 9:37 pm

CRADLE is a registered Scottish Charity (Charity No. SC035955) that provides support to individuals and couples experiencing infertility. Our organisation is run for patients by patients. Our aim is to provide education and support to those with infertility issues or who may be currently going through fertility treatment.

Wendy And Gt. Niece GraceOur group members consist of couples and individuals who have had successful as well as unsuccessful fertility treatment. As a group we recognise the need for continued support from a subfertility diagnosis, through treatment and coming to terms with childlessness.
Gillian BarrettCouples who have been successful in treatment may find themselves, once again, on the emotional roller coaster of fertility treatment should they wish to have another child or even those who have previously had a child naturally, but are having difficulty in subsequent pregnancies. This can be equally if not more stressful than previous treatment cycles as the reality of ?knowing what your are losing? can be difficult to deal with and there can often be high expectations involved.

Filed under: — The Editor @ 10:05 pm

Instituto Marques is one of the leading fertility clinics in Spain, offering a host of fertility related treatments. Representatives of the IM clinic approached us early in 2006 and invited us to visit their establishment to both observe how their clinic facilitates its treatments and to meet the medical staff working directly with patients at every level.

Mind Body Fertility Programmes Glasgow

Filed under: — The Editor @ 3:56 pm

The mind records all of our life events and feelings. Even though we may feel that we forget about them if we push them to the back of our minds – they are still there and if not dealt with can continue to surface in subtle ways and conscientiously and unconscientiously cause us stress. Every single thing that ever happens to us is there in our mind, locked somewhere in our memory. In a sense, we have a whole personal history book inside our heads. There is a constant “dialogue” between our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings that produce chemical, hormonal, neurological and muscular changes. These changes can throw off the delicately balanced hormonal system involved in reproduction.

2006 Fundraiser

Filed under: — The Editor @ 11:29 pm

Cradle held its 3rd Fundraising day in just 12 months on the 3rd June 2006. This years return to GOALS in Glasgow was an excellent day with great weather and some fantastic football played by 22 very sporting men and 1 extremely enthusiastic girl.

All players were fantastic for taking part and the winning Cradle trophy went to John Gray’s team who out played all other teams on the day. We had a superb turn out of just over one hundred friends and family of Cradle members who raised in the region of £1400.00. This money will go towards helping us to continue to provide all of the support and information to patients and their families for the next year. Part of last years money went towards supporting one of our group leaders in completing a counselling skills course at Glasgow University. Due to the benefits that these skills have brought in helping to work with others in difficult situations, we plan to send one other group leader on the same course this year.

Cradle Babes

Filed under: — The Editor @ 9:30 pm

A positive test result following treatment is the holy grail of all our efforts to become parents and it may seem like from then on, it?s all plain sailing. However, a positive result can mean the start of a whole new set of questions and worries. A pregnancy that is so precious because of the amount of effort and heartache that has already been invested in it can seem a daunting and frightening prospect. There may be issues regarding the use and storage of frozen embryos. For couples who have had a child through treatment, trying again for a second child takes a lot of courage. And there are decisions to be made about when and if you tell your child how they were conceived. Anyone who has experinced miscarriage may also gain additonal much needed support.
