Cradle held its 3rd Fundraising day in just 12 months on the 3rd June 2006. This years return to GOALS in Glasgow was an excellent day with great weather and some fantastic football played by 22 very sporting men and 1 extremely enthusiastic girl.



All players were fantastic for taking part and the winning Cradle trophy went to John Gray’s team who out played all other teams on the day. We had a superb turn out of just over one hundred friends and family of Cradle members who raised in the region of £1400.00. This money will go towards helping us to continue to provide all of the support and information to patients and their families for the next year. Part of last years money went towards supporting one of our group leaders in completing a counselling skills course at Glasgow University. Due to the benefits that these skills have brought in helping to work with others in difficult situations, we plan to send one other group leader on the same course this year.

All of the children that attended the fundraiser were wonderful and it was lovely to see some new babies and new bumps from last years event. Hannah and Abbey were a very sweet and well received presentation party and all the boys were delighted to receive their medals from such beautiful little girls.

We’d like to say a particular thanks firstly to Serono for for helping to support the event and to all of our corporate sponsors who donated gifts for our raffle; Arthouse Hotel, Langs Hotel, Ralph Lauren, Trailfinders, Arran Aromatics, Paperinos, SEARCH Recruitment, About Face, Ubiquitous Chip and Cradle members who also brought some beautiful hampers donated by their employers.

We would also like to say a special thank you to those who helped to organise the event this year, in particular Gordon and Helen for all of their efforts in bringing the whole day together, Caroline and John for helping to pull together many of the teams and for helping with additional catering on the day and Christine and Gareth for once again putting on a fabulous barbeque which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Wendy for all of her efforts in chasing business for raffle prizes and Seeta for her amazing sales pitching and for raising so much money on the day. We would also like to say thank you to Muni for making such beautiful and very special gifts and cards for our event and we wish her lots of luck with her future. Lastly but not least we would like to say a special thank you to all of the family and friends of those experiencing infertility who attended the fundraiser. Raising awareness of the subject and helping families to feel more able to talk sensitively about the subject with their loved ones without adding pressure, is one of the most important aspects of these events. Hopefully this year, as with last, we have done something towards trying and remove the taboo of infertility, just a little more.
